The flowers are in full bloom in the garden and are a sight that must be seen! The bees are in abundance, toads abound in their shade, and the children are enthralled with the mixture of fragrances. We have Lauren to thank for the beauty that now abounds in our garden.
One of the most rewarding aspects of our garden is seeing our children explore and experience the garden. We all recognize how important it is for our children to play in the dirt, experience first-hand the growing of food, and the pleasures that come with harvesting.
Growing also brings together the generations – allowing everyone to experience the pleasures of working with the earth no matter how young or old. Grow-forther’s frequently bring extended family and parents to the garden to not only show off the beautiful fruits of our labors but to also put them to work

This is the lasagna technique Kent used to plant the lettuce row: First weed the row. Then, broadfork every 8 inches throughout. Spread 2 inches of bark mulch for top pile, then mix 2/3 manure mix with 1/3 city compost and spread 2 inches thick, watering each layer as you go. Kent used the hand sprayer for this. Also, you can see the pictures of Ken’s hand seeding technique.
